Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

'The Tigris Expedition', by the worldwide bestselling author of 'The Kon-Tiki Expedition', is the true story of an epic voyage, in a boat made from reeds, that took Thor Heyerdahl from the Garden of Eden on the bank of a river that flows from Ararat - where Noah's Ark came to rest - in search of sea routes to the Indian Ocean used by the Sumerians 5000 years ago. Heyerdahl and his companions from nine nations undertook this breathtaking mission in their flimsy craft to prove an ancient migratory route many scientists thought impossible.Thor Heyerdayl's riveting account of their terrifying encounters - with supertankers in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes and with bandits and reefs - together with the fascinating detective work at the heart of their anthropological theory, makes the thrilling real-life adventure of 'The Tigris Expedition' essential reading.''The Tigris Expedition' is rich not only in adventure and scholarship, but in the evocation of those virgin corners of the world which are the reward of men who travel unconventionally.'COLIN THUBRON, 'Sunday Telegraph''A fascinating story of enterprise, history and adventure.'FINANCIAL TIMES'A classic chronicle of an extraordinary voyage.'NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW
