Über den Autor

Umberto Eco, 1932 in Alessandria, Piemont geboren, ist einer der bedeutendsten Schriftsteller und Wissenschaftler unserer Gegenwart. Mit dem Roman "Der Name der Rose" erlangte Eco weltweite Bekanntheit. Zuletzt erschienen "Die Fabrikation des Feindes und andere Gelegenheitsschriften", "Nullnummer"," Pape Satàn", "Auf den Schultern von Riesen" und "Der ewige Faschismus". Für sein Werk wurde Eco vielfach geehrt, unter anderem erhielt er den Gutenberg-Preis der Stadt Mainz, den Österreichischen Staatspreis für Europäische Literatur und wurde weltweit mit 49 Ehrendoktorwürden ausgezeichnet. Er unterrichtete bis zu seinem Tod im Februar 2016 Semiotik an der Universität in Bologna und lebte in Mailand.
