Über den Autor

Eric Carle wurde 1929 in Syracuse, New York, als Kind deutscher Auswanderer geboren. 1935 kehrt er mit seiner Familie nach Stuttgart zurück, wo er später ein Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste absolviert. Carle verweilt nicht lange in Deutschland - 1952 zieht es ihn zurück in die USA, wo er als Grafiker für die New York Times arbeitet. Eric Carle ist folgend als freischaffender Grafiker und Illustrator tätig und entwickelt schließlich eigenes Interesse am Kinderbuch. 1968 wird sein erstes eigenes Bilderbuch "1, 2, 3 ein Zug zum Zoo" veröffentlicht. Mit seinem Folgewerk "Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt" erzielt Carle große internationale Erfolge als Kinderbuchautor und -illustrator. Alleine dieses Buch zählt 50 Millionen verkaufte Exemplare weltweit. Im Jahr 2001 wird dem Autor und Illustrator das Verdienstkreuz der Bundesrepublik Deutschland für sein künstlerisches Schaffen und die Vermittlung zwischen Kulturen verliehen. Eric Carle veröffentlichte bisher über 70 mehrfach ausgezeichnete Bücher, darunter sein neuestes Kinderbuch "Ein Kuss für den kleinen Käfer Immerfrech".
