Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The author describes how at the age of 20 she emigrates to one of the Greek islands, where she is employed by local families. She cleans apartments, looks after the elderly and during the tourist season gains the trust of Stavros, who reveals the secret tricks of shops - how to cheat the tax office and tourists with souvenirs. It turns out that other entrepreneurs act similarly... The girl learns the Greek traditions, customs and the fact that the island lives by its own laws created by natives centuries ago and no state official who has come here has been able to change it. It is as if no system or state jurisdiction could reach this place? The author describes the islanders and their philosophy of life, as if behind the ''curtain'', when the last tourist has left and they are again left among ''their own''. To preserve the privacy of the inhabitants and the anonymity of the island, its name has been changed.
