Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A thrilling, macabre collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s greatest short stories and poems, as well as his only full-length novel, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym Edgar Allan Poe remains the unsurpassed master of works of mystery and madness in this outstanding collection of Poe’s prose and poetry. Here are sixteen of his finest tales, including: • “The Tell-Tale Heart,” a story of a murderer whose guilty conscience manifests in the form of chilling hallucinations; • “The Fall of the House of Usher,” in which a man visits a childhood friend, only to discover a sinister secret lurking beneath his feet; • “The Cask of Amontillado,” which follows a scorned man as he enacts monstrous revenge on a friend who wronged him; • “The Pit and the Pendulum,” set during the Spanish Inquisition, introduces us to a prisoner whose shrouded cell contains untold horrors; • “The Black Cat,” a narrative of a man whose love of animals morphs into perverse acts of violence. Here too is a major selection of what Poe characterized as the passion of his life, his poems—“The Raven,” “Annabel Lee,” “Ulalume,” “Lenore,” “The Bells,” and more, plus his glorious prose poem “Silence—A Fable” and only full-length novel, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym.
