Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Predominantly based on the wisdom and writings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, this unique volume offers clear, scholarly analysis of one of the most important tenets of Jewish tradition. With humorous anecdotes and stories to introduce concepts, it examines a wide range of questions, including: How does Judaism view those who do not give any charity at all? Must one believe in God in order to perform the mitzvah of tzedekah? Is there a limit to how much charity one can give? Why is an interest-free loan considered to be the highest form of charity? Does God give tzedekah? Are non-Jews obligated to give charity? What role will tzedekah play in a perfect Messianic world? Filled with fascinating ideas drawn from both classical and contemporary sources, The Rich Go to Heaven: Giving Charity in Jewish Thought will challenge the mind, appeal to the heart, and stimulate further study.
