Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Now fully updated and expanded, this towering volume is more comprehensive - and compelling - than ever. Organized in three parts - Antiquity and the Middle Ages, Modern Times (from the Renaissance through the French Revolution) and the Contemporary Era - the book explores in great depth the myriad treasures that Paris's artists and architects have created throughout its history, taking the reader on a tour of centuries of artistic achievement. This revised edition brings the history of Parisian art and architecture up to the present and into the future, featuring notable additions to the city's skyline such as Jean Nouvel's Fondation Cartier and Quai Branly Museum, as well as designs for major forthcoming buildings, including Frank Gehry's Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation and Thom Mayne's La Tour Phare (Lighthouse Tower), which will be the centrepiece of an ambitious overhaul of La Défense and the tallest structure in the city after the Eiffel Tower.
