One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Father Lawrence G. Lovsik, S.V.D., and teaches children what sacramentals are and why we use them. Sacramentals are special objects, actions, or blessings that help us feel closer to God and remind us of His love. They are not the same as the sacraments, like Baptism or the Eucharist, but they are powerful ways to grow in our faith and trust in God.Some sacramentals are things we can see or touch, like a crucifix, holy water, rosaries, medals, or candles. These items remind us of Jesus, Mary, and the saints and help us think about God's goodness. For example, when we look at a crucifix, we remember how much Jesus loves us.Other sacramentals are actions or prayers, like making the Sign of the Cross, sprinkling holy water, or saying a blessing. These actions help us focus on God and invite Him into our daily lives.Sacramentals are important because they remind us to pray and live like followers of Jesus. When we use them with faith and love, they help us receive grace and grow closer to God.>Specific sacramentals of the Catholic Church that are covered in this title include:

- the blessing of throats - the blessing of a home- the Sign of the Cross- the Way of the Cross- holy water- candles- the Crucifix, relics, and sacred images- incense- ashes- palms- holy oils - the Rosary- scapulars- the Bible and prayer books
