Prose Poems from the Chinese of Shang Qin

von Shang Qin

104 Seiten, Taschenbuch

Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The author of four volumes of poetry, Shang Qin is among the first Chinese-speaking poets to have expressed a significant interest in surrealism and is, without question, the finest poet on either side of the Formosa Strait to have made the prose poem his métier. Although Shang Qin's reputation is large, his oeuvre is quite small: to date he has published no more than 150 poems, only half of which are prose poems. Since the purpose of the present volume is to showcase the quality of the poet's achievement as a master of the prose poem, to selection is limited to those translations that lent themselves most fluently to translation in English.
