Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Le Petit Theatre is the crown jewel of community theatres in the United States. The elegant theatre, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, has enriched the cultural life of many New Orleanians. Numerous productions at this theatre, on both the main stage and in the children's theatre, have provided countless hours of enjoyment for many audiences. Interviews in this book from actors, directors, playwrights, and board members of Le Petit Theatre allow the reader a first-hand look at the operations of a first-class community theatre. The Soul of the City: Le Petit Thtre du Vieux Carr is an important read for anyone interested in New Orleans history. In addition to a comprehensive study, the book offers onstage and offstage drama. There are violent ghosts, disappearing props and costumes, mudslinging, and more. There are copies of programs available from most of the plays performed at Le Petit; however, no definitive list of plays is written anywhere. The Soul of the City: Le Petit Thtre du Vieux Carr is a record of all plays performed on the main stage and in the children's theatre, as well as a few children's touring productions. Soap opera performer Veleka Gray and Broadway actors Bryan Batt and B.J. "Lady B.J." Crosby began their theatre acting careers at Le Petit Theatre. The famous novelist Sinclair Lewis also performed at Le Petit Theatre.
