Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A COMPLETE LIFE OF GENERAL GEORGE A. CUSTER is the sixth volume in the History in Words and Pictures Series, a collection of books that bring you back in time, in the words of those who were there, with visions of the world as they saw it. The History in Words and Pictures Series is a collection of historical works, edited to a modern reading experience and supplemented with archived and contemporary photography. Written by Frederick Whittaker, the original Custer biographer, A COMPLETE LIFE OF GENERAL GEORGE A. CUSTER is one of the most complete accountings of the legendary General's life. Whittaker entered the project expecting the brash, vain officer often portrayed by hostile media at the time. Before he was finished, he came to believe that General Custer had served his country with distinction, and that the many military and political enemies who surrounded Custer were largely responsible for tarnishing his name, and potentially responsible for his death at the Little Bighorn. Whittaker became so convinced of a conspiracy that he successfully partnered with Elizabeth Custer, the general's widow, to lobby Congress for an official inquiry into the events of the fateful last battle. This fascinating story allows us to experience history in the words and visions of those who made it. Other books in the History in Words and Pictures series include My Life on the Plains, by General Custer himself.
