Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"From an American Legation" provides a firsthand account of the diplomatic landscape in Sweden during the turbulent years of World War I. Written by Ira Nelson Morris, who served as the United States Minister to Stockholm from 1914 to 1923, this work offers a unique perspective on the challenges of maintaining neutrality while surrounded by global conflict. Morris details the intricate political maneuvers, the social atmosphere of a neutral capital, and the strategic importance of Scandinavia during the Great War. The narrative explores the delicate balance of international relations, the impact of the Russian Revolution on neighboring states, and the humanitarian efforts managed through the legation. It serves as a valuable historical record of American diplomacy in Northern Europe, capturing the tensions and transformations of the early 20th century. Through personal anecdotes and official observations, Morris illustrates the vital role of the diplomatic corps in navigating the complexities of war and peace. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
