Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"Foreign Legionaires in the Liberation of Spanish South America" offers a comprehensive historical examination of the international volunteers who played a critical role in the fight for South American independence. Focusing on the period of revolutionary upheaval in the early 19th century, Alfred Hasbrouck details the experiences of the thousands of European soldiers-most notably the British Legion-who crossed the Atlantic to support the causes of leaders like SimÃ3n BolÃ-var.The work provides an in-depth analysis of the recruitment processes, the harsh conditions of the South American campaigns, and the tactical contributions of these foreign units in pivotal battles. By exploring the motivations and fates of these legionnaires, the author sheds light on the broader geopolitical landscape of the era and the transnational support that sustained the liberation movements. This scholarly account emphasizes the strategic importance of foreign military aid in the collapse of the Spanish Empire in the Americas.
