Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"Memoirs of Childhood and Youth" provides an intimate and reflective look into the formative years of Albert Schweitzer, one of the most profound thinkers and humanitarian figures of the twentieth century. In this evocative autobiography, Schweitzer recounts his early life in a small Alsatian village, offering readers a glimpse into the domestic, educational, and spiritual influences that shaped his moral development and his future contributions to philosophy and theology. The narrative captures the awakening of Schweitzer's intellectual curiosity, his deep sensitivity toward all living creatures, and his early passion for music and organ performance. By sharing personal anecdotes from his school days and family life, he illustrates the steady growth of the values that would later culminate in his renowned "reverence for life" philosophy. Schweitzer's prose is characterized by its clarity and sincerity, bridging the gap between a simple personal history and a deep philosophical exploration of the human experience.A compelling read for those interested in the lives of great thinkers, this work serves as a testament to how the observations and internal struggles of youth lay the foundation for a lifetime of service and dedication to humanity. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
