Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"A Miscellany of Tracts and Pamphlets" is an insightful anthology that showcases the power and evolution of short-form persuasive writing in English history. Curated by the noted literary critic A. C. Ward, this collection brings together a diverse array of writings that range from the provocative to the profound. These tracts and pamphlets represent a vital segment of literary and social history, capturing the immediate concerns, religious fervor, and political tensions of their respective eras through the lens of those who lived through them. The collection serves as a testament to the influence of the printed word during the centuries before the dominance of modern mass media. By including works that were often ephemeral in nature, Ward preserves the voices of reformers, dissidents, and thinkers who used the pamphlet as a primary weapon for social change or a tool for moral instruction. From theological disputes to sharp political critiques, the selections provide readers with a direct window into the evolving landscape of British thought and expression. This work is an essential resource for students of literature, history, and journalism, highlighting the development of English prose and the historical significance of the tract as a literary genre. Through these pages, readers can explore the intellectual vigor and rhetorical skill that characterized some of the most influential minor works in the English language. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
