Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"An Outline of the British Labor Movement" by Paul Blanshard offers a comprehensive survey of the rise and evolution of organized labor in Great Britain during a pivotal era in its development. Written from the perspective of the early 1920s, this work provides an insightful overview of the trade union movement, the formation and growth of the Labor Party, and the profound socio-economic forces that reshaped the lives of British workers. The text explores the transition from traditional craft-based guilds to the emergence of massive industrial unions and the subsequent political mobilization that sought to redefine the relationship between capital and labor. With a focused examination of key events, influential leaders, and significant ideological shifts, Blanshard highlights the impact of the Industrial Revolution and the persistent struggle for collective bargaining rights. This study serves as an essential resource for understanding the foundations of modern British social and political history, detailing the labor movement's growing influence on national policy and the development of social democracy in the United Kingdom.
