Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"ZaragÃ1/4eta" is a celebrated two-act Spanish comedy written by the prolific dramatists Miguel Ramos CarriÃ3n and Vital Aza. This humorous play is a masterpiece of the "comedia de enredo" (comedy of errors) genre, following the misadventures of Carlos, a student whose financial debts lead him into a series of elaborate deceptions. When Carlos's uncle, Indalecio, arrives to visit the family, a whirlwind of misunderstandings and comedic situations ensues, driven by the protagonist's desperate attempts to hide his profligate lifestyle and maintain his uncle's favor. Known for its witty dialogue, fast-paced plot, and vibrant characterizations, the work offers an engaging look into late 19th-century Spanish social customs and family dynamics. This edition highlights the play's enduring appeal as a staple of Iberian theater and its historical significance as an educational tool for students of the Spanish language. Readers will appreciate the clever construction of the plot and the lighthearted yet insightful critique of human folly. "ZaragÃ1/4eta" remains one of the most popular and frequently performed examples of Spanish light comedy, reflecting the collaborative brilliance of its authors in capturing the essence of domestic farce and the universal humor of the human condition. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
