Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Calvin's Aphorisms and Letter to Francis the First, in Defense of the Reformation is a book written by Jean Calvin and published in 1844. The book is a collection of aphorisms and a letter written by Calvin to King Francis I of France, defending the Protestant Reformation. The aphorisms are short, pithy statements that express Calvin's beliefs on various theological topics. The letter is a passionate defense of the Reformation and a plea to the king to stop persecuting Protestants in France. In the letter, Calvin argues that the Reformation is a necessary reform of the corrupt practices of the Catholic Church and that the Protestant movement is not a threat to the stability of the state. The book provides a valuable insight into the thoughts and beliefs of one of the most influential figures of the Protestant Reformation. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
