Gideon Brown: A True Story Of The Covenant, And Of The Persecution In Scotland (1877) is a historical account written by Gideon Brown himself. The book details the life of Brown during the time of the Scottish Covenanters, a group of Scottish Presbyterians who signed the National Covenant in 1638 to defend their religious rights against the monarchy. The book describes the persecution that Brown and his fellow Covenanters faced, including imprisonment, torture, and execution. Brown recounts his experiences of being hunted by soldiers, hiding in caves, and enduring harsh conditions while on the run. The book also provides insights into the religious beliefs and practices of the Covenanters, including their commitment to the Presbyterian Church and their opposition to the Anglican Church. Overall, Gideon Brown: A True Story Of The Covenant, And Of The Persecution In Scotland (1877) is a powerful and moving account of one man's struggle for religious freedom during a tumultuous period in Scottish history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
