Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The book ""The Martyr of Freedom"" is a discourse delivered by Thomas Treadwell Stone in November and December of 1837 in East Machias and Machias, respectively. The discourse revolves around the life and death of Elijah P. Lovejoy, who was a journalist and abolitionist in the United States during the 19th century. Lovejoy was killed by a pro-slavery mob in Alton, Illinois, in November 1837, and his death became a symbol of the struggle for freedom and the fight against slavery. Stone's discourse pays tribute to Lovejoy and his sacrifice, and also reflects on the broader issues of freedom, democracy, and justice in American society. The book provides a historical account of Lovejoy's life and death, as well as an analysis of the political and social context of the time. It is an important work of American history and a powerful tribute to a courageous and inspiring figure in the struggle for freedom and equality. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
