Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Mairi of Callaird: A West Highland Tale is a novel written by Katherine I. Campbell in 1878. The book is set in the West Highlands of Scotland and tells the story of Mairi, a young woman who lives with her father on their isolated farm. Mairi is a strong-willed and independent character who longs for adventure and a life beyond the confines of her small community. When a group of travelers arrive in the area, Mairi is drawn to them and their stories of the wider world. She becomes particularly interested in one of the travelers, a young man named Alasdair, and the two begin a tentative romance. However, Mairi's father disapproves of their relationship, and tensions rise as Mairi struggles to balance her desire for independence with her loyalty to her family. As the story unfolds, Mairi must navigate the challenges of love, family, and tradition in a rapidly changing world. The novel offers a vivid portrayal of life in the West Highlands during the 19th century, with its rugged landscapes, close-knit communities, and deep-seated traditions. At its heart, Mairi of Callaird is a tale of love, courage, and the enduring power of family ties. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
