David Nelson Camp's autobiography, Recollections Of A Long And Active Life, is a fascinating glimpse into the life of a man who lived through some of the most significant events in American history. Born in 1820, Camp grew up in New York State and went on to become a lawyer, judge, and politician. In his memoir, he shares his memories of growing up in a small town, his experiences as a young lawyer, and his involvement in politics, including his time as a member of Congress during the Civil War.Camp's recollections are filled with vivid descriptions of the people and places he encountered throughout his life. He writes about his encounters with famous figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Daniel Webster, and Andrew Jackson, and he also provides insights into the daily life of ordinary people during the 19th century.Throughout the book, Camp's love for his family and his country is evident. He writes about his marriage to his wife, Mary, and their children, and he also reflects on the importance of patriotism and civic duty.
