Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Love In Black is a novel written by Henry Hesketh Bell and first published in 1911. The story is set in the late 19th century and follows the life of a young woman named Rosamund, who is born into a wealthy family in England. Rosamund is a beautiful and intelligent woman, but she is also very headstrong and independent, which often gets her into trouble. The novel begins with Rosamund falling in love with a young man named Arthur, who is not from her social class. Despite her family's objections, Rosamund marries Arthur and moves to his home in the West Indies. However, their marriage is far from perfect, as Arthur is a heavy drinker and often abusive towards Rosamund. As the story progresses, Rosamund becomes increasingly disillusioned with her life in the West Indies and begins to long for her old life in England. She also develops feelings for another man, a wealthy plantation owner named Hugh. Rosamund's love for Hugh becomes a source of conflict in her marriage to Arthur, and she must decide whether to stay with him or leave him for Hugh.Love In Black is a powerful and emotional novel that explores themes of love, class, and race. It is a compelling story of a woman's struggle to find happiness and fulfillment in a world that is often cruel and unforgiving. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
