Sir Gawayne and the Green Knight: An Alliterative Romance-Poem is a book written by Richard Morris in 1864. The book is a retelling of the medieval English tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which dates back to the late 14th century. The story follows Sir Gawain, a knight of the Round Table, as he accepts a challenge from the mysterious Green Knight to exchange blows with him. The book is written in alliterative verse, a form of poetry that was popular in medieval England. The story is a classic example of chivalric romance, and it explores themes of honor, loyalty, and courage. Morris's version of the tale is considered to be one of the most faithful adaptations of the original Middle English text, making it a valuable resource for scholars and enthusiasts of medieval literature. The book is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of English literature and the legacy of the Arthurian legends. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
