The Apostolic Fathers, Volume 1, Section 1, Part 2: S. Ignatius, S. Polycarp is a book written by J.B. Lightfoot and published in 1885. The book is a collection of writings from the early Christian church, specifically from two important figures in the church: Saint Ignatius and Saint Polycarp. The book is divided into two sections, with the first section focusing on the writings of Saint Ignatius and the second section focusing on the writings of Saint Polycarp. Both saints were disciples of the apostle John and played important roles in the early Christian church. The writings of Saint Ignatius are a series of letters he wrote to various churches and individuals while he was being transported to Rome to be martyred. These letters provide insight into the beliefs and practices of the early Christian church and offer guidance to the recipients on how to live a faithful life. The writings of Saint Polycarp include a letter he wrote to the Philippians and an account of his martyrdom. The letter provides similar guidance to the recipients as the letters of Saint Ignatius, while the account of his martyrdom offers a glimpse into the persecution faced by early Christians.Overall, The Apostolic Fathers, Volume 1, Section 1, Part 2: S.
