The Fair Penitent and Jane Shore is a book written by Nicholas Rowe and originally published in 1907. The book is a collection of two plays, The Fair Penitent and Jane Shore. The Fair Penitent is a tragedy that tells the story of Calista, a beautiful and virtuous woman who falls in love with Lothario, a notorious womanizer. Despite warnings from her family and friends, Calista becomes involved with Lothario and ultimately pays a tragic price for her actions. Jane Shore is another tragedy that tells the story of a woman who becomes the mistress of King Edward IV. When the king dies, Jane is left to fend for herself and is eventually punished for her role in the affair.
