Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The New Trial of the Witnesses: Or The Resurrection of Jesus Considered is a book written by John Hunt in 1823. The book is a critical analysis of the resurrection of Jesus and the testimonies of the witnesses who claimed to have seen him after his death. Hunt presents a legalistic approach to the resurrection, treating the testimonies of the witnesses as evidence to be examined in a court of law. Hunt begins by examining the historical context of the resurrection and the various theories that have been put forward to explain it. He then turns to the witnesses themselves, analyzing their testimonies and assessing their credibility. Hunt argues that the testimonies of the witnesses are consistent and reliable, and that they provide strong evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. However, Hunt also acknowledges that there are skeptics who reject the resurrection as a myth or a legend. He engages with these arguments, offering counterpoints and refutations. Throughout the book, Hunt presents a rigorous and detailed analysis of the resurrection, drawing on his knowledge of law, history, and theology. Overall, The New Trial of the Witnesses is a thought-provoking and scholarly work that offers a fresh perspective on one of the central events of Christian faith. Hunt's legalistic approach and careful analysis make this book an important contribution to the ongoing debate about the resurrection of Jesus. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
