Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Studies in the Anglo-Saxon Version of the Gospels, Part 1: The Form of the Latin Original, and Mistaken Renderings"" is a book written by Lancelot Minor Harris and published in 1901. This book is part of a series of studies on the Anglo-Saxon version of the Gospels, which focuses on analyzing the translation of the Gospels from Latin to Old English. In this first part of the series, Harris examines the form of the Latin original and the mistaken renderings that occurred during the translation process. He delves into the linguistic and cultural context of the time period in which the translation was made, taking into account the differences in language and religious beliefs between the Latin-speaking Roman Empire and the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.Harris also provides a detailed analysis of the translation itself, pointing out specific instances where the meaning of the original Latin text was lost or distorted in the Anglo-Saxon version. He uses examples from the text to illustrate his points and provides a thorough analysis of the translation process.Overall, ""Studies in the Anglo-Saxon Version of the Gospels, Part 1: The Form of the Latin Original, and Mistaken Renderings"" is a valuable resource for scholars of Old English and the history of Christianity. It provides insight into the translation process and sheds light on the cultural and linguistic context of the time period. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
