Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Canto Added by Maphaeus to Virgil's Twelve Books of Aeneas is a book written by Maffeo Vegio in 1758. It is a commentary on the epic poem Aeneid by Virgil, which tells the story of Aeneas, a Trojan prince who travels to Italy to establish a new home for his people. Vegio's work focuses specifically on a canto, or song, that was added to Virgil's original twelve books by a later author named Maphaeus. Vegio examines the style, structure, and themes of this canto, as well as its relationship to the rest of the Aeneid. Throughout the book, Vegio provides detailed analysis and interpretation of the text, drawing on his knowledge of classical literature and his own literary expertise. He also offers historical and cultural context for the Aeneid and its reception in the centuries since its composition. Overall, The Canto Added by Maphaeus to Virgil's Twelve Books of Aeneas is a valuable resource for scholars and students of classical literature, as well as anyone interested in the history of epic poetry and its enduring influence on Western culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
