Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Crackling of Thorns is a novel written by Dum-Dum and originally published in 1906. The story takes place in India during the British Raj and follows the life of a young British officer named Ronald Keith. Keith is posted to a remote outpost in the jungle where he is tasked with maintaining order and keeping the peace among the local population. As Keith becomes more involved in the daily lives of the villagers, he begins to question the morality of British rule in India and the impact it has on the people living there. He also falls in love with a local woman named Sita, which further complicates his feelings towards his role as a British officer. The novel explores themes of colonialism, cultural identity, and the clash of Western and Eastern values. It also provides a vivid depiction of life in rural India during the early 20th century, including descriptions of the landscape, customs, and traditions of the local people.Overall, The Crackling of Thorns is a thought-provoking and engaging novel that offers a unique perspective on the complex history of British rule in India. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
