Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Drain of Silver to the East and the Currency of India is a book written by William Nassau Lees in 1864. The book discusses the economic impact of the silver trade in India during the 19th century. Lees argues that the British Empire's policy of exporting silver to India in exchange for goods and services created a drain on the country's resources and led to economic instability. He also discusses the issues with India's currency system, which was based on the silver standard. Lees suggests various solutions to these problems, including the adoption of a gold standard and the establishment of a national bank in India. The book provides a historical perspective on the economic challenges faced by India during the colonial period and offers insights into the debates surrounding economic policy at the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
