Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Hymns of Callimachus is a collection of hymns written by the ancient Greek poet Callimachus, translated into English by William Dodd and published in 1755. Callimachus was a prominent figure in Hellenistic poetry, and his hymns are considered some of his most important works. The hymns are dedicated to various gods and goddesses, including Apollo, Demeter, and Athena, and each one praises the deity's virtues and attributes. The translations by Dodd aim to capture the beauty and elegance of Callimachus' original Greek, while also making the poems accessible to English readers. The book is a valuable resource for scholars of ancient Greek literature, as well as anyone interested in the history of poetry and religious practices in the ancient world. To Which Are Added, Select Epigrams, And The Coma Berenices Of The Same Author, Six Hymns Of Orpheus, And The Encomium Of Ptolemy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
