Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Voyage of Nearchus: And the Periplus of the Erythrean Sea is a historical book written by William Vincent and published in 1809. The book is a compilation of two ancient Greek texts, the Voyage of Nearchus and the Periplus of the Erythrean Sea, which detail the explorations and discoveries of ancient Greek navigators in the Indian Ocean and surrounding areas. The Voyage of Nearchus describes the journey of Alexander the Great's fleet from the Indus River to the Persian Gulf, led by Nearchus, a Greek admiral. The text provides a detailed account of the geography, people, and customs of the regions they encountered along the way. The Periplus of the Erythrean Sea is a guidebook for ancient sailors traveling along the Indian Ocean and Red Sea coasts. It includes descriptions of the ports, trade goods, and navigational advice for sailors. Vincent's book includes translations of both texts, as well as historical context and analysis. The book provides valuable insight into the ancient world's exploration and trade networks, as well as the cultural exchange between different regions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
