Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Fireside Tales is a collection of short stories written by Edwin Waugh and first published in 1885. The book contains a total of 24 tales, each of which offers a glimpse into the lives of working-class people living in the north of England during the mid-19th century. The stories are set in a variety of locations, including rural villages, bustling towns, and industrial cities, and they explore a range of themes, from love and loss to social injustice and political corruption. The characters in the book are drawn from all walks of life, from farmers and factory workers to clergymen and aristocrats, and their stories are told with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of human nature. Despite the often harsh realities of life depicted in these tales, Waugh's writing is infused with a gentle humor and a sense of warmth and compassion that makes them a joy to read. Fireside Tales is a timeless classic of English literature, and a must-read for anyone interested in the history and culture of the north of England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
