Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Edwin: A Tragedy"" is a play written by George Jeffreys and first published in 1724. The play tells the story of Edwin, the Earl of Mercia, who falls in love with Elfrida, a beautiful and ambitious woman who is also the stepmother of his best friend, Morcar. Despite the warnings of his advisors and the disapproval of his people, Edwin marries Elfrida and becomes increasingly isolated from those around him. Meanwhile, Morcar becomes consumed with jealousy and plots to overthrow Edwin, leading to a tragic and violent conclusion. The play explores themes of love, power, and betrayal, and is considered a classic example of 18th century English tragedy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
