Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Journal and Letters of Henry Martyn is a collection of personal writings by the British missionary and scholar, Henry Martyn. Originally published in 1861, this book offers readers a unique insight into the life and experiences of Martyn, who is widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian figures of the early 19th century. The book is divided into two parts: Martyn's journal and his letters. The journal covers the period from 1802 to 1812 and provides a detailed account of Martyn's travels and missionary work in India and Persia. The letters, on the other hand, were written to Martyn's family and friends during the same period and offer a more personal perspective on his life and struggles.Throughout the book, Martyn's deep faith and dedication to his mission are evident. He writes about his struggles with illness, his efforts to learn the local languages, and his interactions with the people he meets along the way. Martyn's journal also includes detailed descriptions of the places he visits, including their customs and traditions.Overall, The Journal and Letters of Henry Martyn is a fascinating read for anyone interested in the history of Christian missions or the life of this remarkable man. It provides a unique window into the challenges and triumphs of early Christian missionary work, as well as the personal struggles and triumphs of one of its most dedicated practitioners. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
