Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Works Of Anacreon, Sappho, Bion, Moschus, And Musaeus is a book compiled by Francis Fawkes in 1789. The book contains translations of poems by five ancient Greek poets: Anacreon, Sappho, Bion, Moschus, and Musaeus. Anacreon's poems are mainly focused on love, wine, and revelry. Sappho's poems are known for their passionate expressions of love and desire, often directed towards other women. Bion's poems are pastoral in nature and deal with the themes of love and loss. Moschus's poems are also pastoral, but they also deal with the themes of death and mourning. Musaeus's poems are mythological in nature and often deal with the stories of the gods and heroes. Fawkes's translations are considered to be some of the best in English literature and have been praised for their accuracy and beauty. The book is a valuable resource for those interested in ancient Greek poetry and literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
