Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Lord Milner is a biography of Alfred Milner, a prominent British statesman and colonial administrator in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Written by W.B. Luke and originally published in 1901, the book provides a detailed account of Milner's life and career, from his early days as a journalist to his rise to power as High Commissioner for South Africa and Secretary of State for War. The book explores Milner's role in shaping British policy in South Africa during the Boer War, as well as his efforts to promote imperial unity and strengthen the British Empire in the face of growing challenges from other world powers. It also delves into Milner's personal life and relationships, including his marriage to Lady Violet Cecil and his friendships with other prominent figures of the era, such as Cecil Rhodes and Winston Churchill.Overall, Lord Milner offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of the most influential figures of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, and sheds light on the complex political and social forces that shaped the British Empire during this period. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
