Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This is the story of the triumphs of the gospel in the Cook Islands (Hervey and Penrhyn Isles) and Niue (Savage Island) in the 19th century. From cannibal savages, many of these islanders were transformed into exemplary Christians, and fearless heralds of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The fascinating story of their progress is told here with sympathy and enthusiasm by the author, who was himself a missionary among them. "The story of the gospel's progress in the islands of the Pacific, and the great moral and social revolution thence resulting has no parallel save in the Acts of the Apostles. With such materials, and with the experiences of sixteen years' labours amid the scenes he describes, Mr. Gill has produced a work of thrilling interest." "Filled with most interesting accounts of the wonderful works of God, and triumphs of his gospel." Volume 1, an account of the beginning of gospel work in Western Polynesia (The New Hebrides and New Caledonia), is also available.
