Zaira: A Serious Opera is a book written by Peter Von Winter and first published in 1805. The book is a libretto for an opera, which tells the story of a Christian slave girl named Zaira who falls in love with a Muslim prince named Orosmane. The story takes place in Sicily during the Arab occupation in the 9th century. Zaira's love for Orosmane is forbidden, and she faces many challenges as she tries to navigate her feelings for him while also staying true to her Christian faith. The opera explores themes of love, religion, and cultural differences, as well as the struggle between personal desires and societal expectations. The libretto is written in Italian and includes the lyrics to the songs that would be sung in the opera. It also includes stage directions and descriptions of the characters and settings. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of opera, as well as for those studying Italian language and literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
