Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A Defence of the Ladies: And Others Against the Bishop of Maryland, and His Aids is a book written by James Cook Richmond in 1845. The book is a response to a controversial sermon given by the Bishop of Maryland, William R. Whittingham, in which he criticized the role of women in society and the church. Richmond argues that women have an important role to play in both spheres and that their contributions should be recognized and valued. He also addresses other criticisms of the Bishop and his associates, defending the honor and reputation of those who have been unfairly attacked. The book is a passionate defense of the rights and dignity of women, and a call for greater respect and recognition for their contributions to society. It is an important historical document that sheds light on the attitudes and debates of the time, and continues to be relevant today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
