Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A Flower of the Field: Eliza's Song and the Five Refrains Following is a book written by Henry Nehemiah Dodge and published in 1914. The book tells the story of Eliza, a young woman who lives in a small village in New England. Eliza is known for her beautiful singing voice and her kind heart. One day, she falls in love with a young man named John, but their happiness is short-lived when John is called away to fight in the Civil War.As Eliza waits for John's return, she finds solace in her singing and in the beauty of the natural world around her. The book is divided into six parts, each of which contains a refrain that reflects Eliza's feelings and experiences. The refrains are written in a poetic style and serve to underscore the themes of love, loss, and the power of nature.Throughout the book, Dodge explores the ways in which Eliza's love for John and her connection to the natural world shape her identity and give her strength in difficult times. The book is a poignant and lyrical meditation on the human experience, and it remains a beloved classic of American literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
