Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Gondoliers: Or The King Of Barataria is a comic opera in two acts, written by William Schwenck Gilbert and first performed in 1889. The story follows the adventures of two Venetian gondoliers, Marco and Giuseppe, who are informed that one of them is actually the long-lost King of Barataria. The two friends are whisked away to the tropical island kingdom, where they must navigate the complexities of royal court politics and decide which of them is the rightful king. Along the way, they encounter a cast of colorful characters, including the beautiful and witty Tessa, the shy and lovestruck Gianetta, and the scheming Grand Inquisitor Don Alhambra. The Gondoliers is known for its catchy tunes, witty lyrics, and clever wordplay, and has remained a popular staple of the operatic repertoire for over a century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
