Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Britannia's Pastorals is a collection of pastoral poems written by William Browne and published in 1852. The poems are set in the idyllic countryside of England and explore themes of love, nature, and rural life. The collection is divided into three books, each containing a series of poems that follow the lives and loves of various characters. The first book focuses on the shepherd Clorin and his love for the maiden Amarillis, while the second book follows the story of the shepherdess Juliana and her love for the shepherd Amoret. The third book features a variety of characters and themes, including a celebration of the English countryside and a lament for the loss of innocence and simplicity in modern society. Browne's poetry is characterized by its pastoral imagery, lyrical language, and celebration of the natural world. Britannia's Pastorals is considered a classic of English pastoral poetry and has influenced many poets and writers since its publication. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
