Janus In Modern Life is a book written by William Matthew Flinders Petrie and published in 1907. The book explores the concept of Janus, a Roman god with two faces, and how his symbolism can be applied to modern life. Petrie delves into the history and mythology of Janus, examining his role as the god of beginnings and endings, and his association with doorways, gates, and transitions. Petrie then applies the concept of Janus to various aspects of modern life, such as politics, religion, and psychology. He argues that Janus can be seen as a symbol of balance and harmony, and that his two faces represent the duality of human nature. The book also explores the idea of Janus as a symbol of progress and change, and how his symbolism can be used to navigate the complexities of modern society.Overall, Janus In Modern Life is a thought-provoking book that offers a unique perspective on the role of mythology and symbolism in modern life.
