Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Joan of Arc: Ballads, Lyrics, and Minor Poems"" is a collection of poems written by the famous English poet Robert Southey in 1866. The book is centered around the historical figure of Joan of Arc, a French peasant girl who played a pivotal role in the Hundred Years' War between France and England in the 15th century. The poems in this collection present various aspects of Joan's life, including her childhood, her visions, her military campaigns, and her eventual capture and execution. Southey's writing style is characterized by its vivid imagery, emotional intensity, and lyrical beauty. The book is divided into several sections, each containing a different type of poem. The first section features ballads, which are narrative poems that tell the story of Joan's life in a simple and direct way. The second section contains lyrics, which are shorter, more emotional poems that focus on Joan's inner life and her relationship with God. The final section features minor poems, which are shorter and more varied in tone and subject matter. Overall, ""Joan of Arc: Ballads, Lyrics, and Minor Poems"" is a moving and powerful tribute to one of history's most fascinating and inspiring figures. Southey's poems capture the essence of Joan's courage, faith, and determination, and offer readers a glimpse into the heart and soul of this remarkable woman.""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
