Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Marriage, As It Was, As It Is, And As It Should Be: A Plea For Reform (1882) is a book written by Annie Wood Besant, an English socialist, theosophist, and women's rights activist. The book explores the history of marriage, its current state, and proposes reforms for a better future. Besant argues that marriage has been historically used as a tool of oppression and control, particularly for women, and that it should be reformed to become a more equal and beneficial partnership. She discusses issues such as divorce, polygamy, and the role of women in marriage, advocating for greater freedom and choice for individuals in their relationships. The book is a call to action for social and legal reforms to improve the institution of marriage and promote greater equality and happiness for all. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
