Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Plow-Woman is a novel written by Eleanor Gates and was first published in 1906. The story is set in rural America during the early 20th century and follows the life of a young woman named Mary Thomas, who is known as the ""plow-woman"" in her community due to her exceptional farming skills. Mary is a strong-willed and independent woman who works hard to support her family and farm. The novel explores themes of gender roles, social class, and the challenges faced by rural communities during this time period. Mary's character challenges traditional gender roles by proving that women can be just as skilled and capable as men when it comes to farming and providing for their families. The book also touches on issues of poverty and the struggles faced by farmers, particularly during times of drought and economic hardship.Throughout the novel, Mary faces several obstacles, including the disapproval of her father and the prejudices of her community. However, she remains determined to prove herself and eventually earns the respect and admiration of those around her.Overall, The Plow-Woman is a compelling and inspiring story of a young woman's determination to succeed in a world that is often stacked against her. It is a timeless tale of hope, perseverance, and the power of hard work and determination. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
