Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Translated Prophet is a historical book written by John Marshall Lowrie in 1868. The book revolves around the life of a Native American prophet named Neolin, who lived during the mid-18th century. Neolin was a spiritual leader who preached against the European colonization of America and advocated for the return to traditional Native American ways of life. The book chronicles Neolin's life, his teachings, and his influence on other Native American tribes. It also explores the impact of European colonization on Native American communities, including the forced removal of tribes from their ancestral lands and the destruction of their way of life. Lowrie, who was a Presbyterian missionary, wrote the book based on his interactions with Native American tribes in the mid-19th century. He was fascinated by Neolin's teachings and saw them as a way to bridge the gap between Christianity and Native American spirituality. Overall, The Translated Prophet is a compelling historical account of a Native American leader who fought against colonization and sought to preserve his people's way of life. It is a must-read for anyone interested in Native American history and culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
