Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Dissertations, Essays, and Parallels by John Robert Scott is a collection of literary works written by the author in the early 19th century. The book is divided into three sections, each containing a different type of writing. The first section, Dissertations, includes four essays on various topics such as the importance of education, the nature of poetry, and the role of government in society. These essays are written in a formal and scholarly style, reflecting the author's background as a professor of literature. The second section, Essays, contains ten shorter pieces on a range of subjects, including travel, history, and philosophy. These essays are more personal in nature, often reflecting the author's own experiences and opinions. The final section, Parallels, is a collection of literary comparisons between different authors and works. Scott draws parallels between Shakespeare and Milton, for example, or between the poetry of Wordsworth and Coleridge. These comparisons are intended to highlight similarities and differences in style, theme, and technique.Overall, Dissertations, Essays, and Parallels provides a fascinating glimpse into the literary world of the early 19th century. Scott's writing is erudite and thoughtful, and the book offers a valuable perspective on the intellectual and cultural trends of the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
